St. Justin, Martyr Volunteer Opportunities
Famous Thrift Shoppe – sale day Wednesday from 8:30 am until 11:30 am. Individuals are needed for sorting, selling, and greeting patrons. Training is provided with flexible hours.
Art and Environment – assist with the Liturgical environment according to the Seasons and Feasts occurring during the Liturgical year. One or more attributes: creative, artistic, floral arranger, seamstress, green thumb and be able to lift and move small items.
Sacristan – Prepares the altar for the upcoming Mass and maintains the Liturgical vestments, linens, and vessels for Daily, Weekend, and Funeral Mass. Masses at 8:30 am Monday through Friday and Saturday 4 pm; Sunday 9:00 am. Training provided.
Ushers – Friendly and smiling faces needed at Masses – Saturday 4 pm; Sunday 9 am, funerals and Holy Days of Obligation. Arrive 45 minutes prior to Mass. Training provided.
Altar Server – adults and children. Training provided.
Choir – Sing a New Song unto the Lord! Masses at 4 pm Saturday and 9am Sunday.
Cantor – Leads the congregation in singing at Mass. Training provided.
Lectors – Proclaim the Good News! Masses – Saturday 4 pm; Sunday 9 am, Daily Mass at 8:30 am and funerals. Training provided.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion – Masses – Saturday 4 pm; Sunday 9am, Daily Mass at 8:30 am and funerals. Training provided.
Pastoral Care for Sick/Homebound. Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at one Nursing Home and two Assisted Living Facilities. Spiritual comfort to the elderly. Training provided. Level II FBI background screening and online Safe Environment Training required.
Church Office – Various clerical tasks on an as-needed basis.
Offertory Counters – Count your blessings and our offertory! Meet one day a week for a few hours to count the weekly offertory. Training provided. Level II FBI background screening required.
Laundry Ladies/Men – Cleanliness is next to Godliness! Wash altar cloths in your home.
Outreach Ministry – Deliver St. Justin’s food collection for the poor to the Interfaith Food Pantry on Starkey Road. A large car or truck is helpful.
